در این مجموعه مقالات به یکی از رایج ترین انواع اشتباهات رایج زبان آموزان ایرانی در هنگام مکالمه زبان انگلیسی در زمینه ابراز عقاید بصورت واضح و صریح یا Self-Expression می پردازیم.

به فارسی فکر کردن و سپس ترجمه مستقیم فارسی به انگلیسی ریشه اصلی بروز اشتباهات مربوط به Self-Expression می باشد که در زبان آموزان فارسی زبان امری بسیار رایج است. اما ابتدا باید بدانید که Self-Expression دقیقا چیست؟

هنگامی که مطلبی که در ذهن زبان آموز می گذرد با معادل صحیح همان مطلب در زبان انگلیسی متفاوت باشد، اشتباهات مربوط به Self-Expression رخ می دهد. به عنوان مثال وقتی می خواهید بگویید "این متعلق به من است" می بایست بگوید:

This is mine. Or It belongs to me

اما مشاهده می شود که بعضی زبان آموزان به اشتباه از جمله This is for me. استفاده می کنند. جملاتی از این دست از لحاظ ساختارهای گرامری ممکن است کاملا صحیح به نظر زبان آموزان برسد اما اینگونه جملات که معمولا ترجمه مستقیم فارسی به انگلیسی هستند، در زبان انگلیسی روزمره کاربرد ندارند و غلط محسوب می شوند. بهترین راه حل برای جلوگیری از وقوع اشتباهاتی از این دست ...

بهترین راه حل برای جلوگیری از وقوع اشتباهاتی از این دست:

راه حل اول، در هنگام یادگیری مطالب جدید سعی کنید معنی دقیق مطلب جدید را در بستر زبان انگلیسی یادبگیرید. سعی کنید مثلا یک جمله به زبان انگلیسی را که برای اولین بار یادگرفته اید، دوباره به شیوه ای دیگر اما با همان معنی به زبان انگلیسی بیان کنید. مانند:

I enjoyed the party.

حالا همین جمله را به شیوه ایی دیگر و با همان معنی بیان کنید. مانند:

I had a good time at the party. Or I really liked the party.

در صورتی که اگر سعی می کردید مفهوم فوق را از فارسی به انگلیسی ترجمه کنید، احتمال زیادی وجود داشت که جمله غلط I enjoyed from the party. را بیان می کردید.

راه حل دوم، بجای اینکه از خودتان بپرسید

البته پاسخ دادن به این سئوال کار تقریبا دشوار و زمان گیری است. اما برای پاسخ صحیح به این سئوال می توانید از مثال های دیکشنری، افرادی که زبانشان از شما بهتر است و همچنین از معلمین خود کمک بگیرید تا به حدی برسید که حداقل بتوانید از بیان ابتدایی ترین و رایج ترین اشتباهات مربوط به Self-Expression  اجتناب کنید.

راه حل سوم، سعی کنید با خواندن این مجموعه اشتباهات که از کلاس های آموزش زبان انگلیسی جمع آوری و تدوین شده، با شکل صحیح جملات رایج در مکالمه روزمره آشنا شوید و از بیان اشتباهاتی از این دست اجتناب کنید. این مجموعه هر هفته به روز رسانی می شود.

7.      Wrong Self-Expression:  It was a long time before when I met her for the first time.

Correct American Style:        It was a long time ago when I met her for the first time.

8.      Wrong Self-Expression:  She has not told him her name ago.

Correct American Style:        She has not told him her name before.

9.      Wrong Self-Expression:  Judy, as well as Joe, play the piano.

Correct American Style:        Judy, as well as Joe, plays the piano.

10.   Wrong Self-Expression:  It is me who won the first prize last year.

Correct American Style:        It is I who won the first prize last year.

11.   Wrong Self-Expression:  My writing needs to be improving.

Correct American Style:        My writing needs to be improved.

12.   Wrong Self-Expression:  Since that incident, I followed my friend's advice.

Correct American Style:        Since that incident, I have followed my friend's advice.

13.   Wrong Self-Expression:  Some badminton players face problems such as do not have a job.

Correct American Style:        Some badminton players face problems such as not having a job.

14.   Wrong Self-Expression: I faced with heavy traffic on my way here.

Correct American Style:        I was faced with heavy traffic on my way here.

15.   Wrong Self-Expression:  I think there will never be another singer as Michael Jackson.

Correct American Style:        I think there will never be another singer like Michael Jackson.

16.   Wrong Self-Expression:  You may need English in correspondence or meet foreigners.

Correct American Style:        You may need to know English when writing to or meeting foreigners.

17.   Wrong Self-Expression:  This rice is not the same quality like you sold before.

Correct American Style:        This rice is not the same quality that you sold before.

18.   Wrong Self-Expression:  If we practice sports we will enjoy together.

Correct American Style:        If we play sports we will enjoy ourselves.  or If we play sports we will enjoy it together.

19.   Wrong Self-Expression:  Mary's friends advised her don't be so proud.

Correct American Style:        Mary's friends advised her not to be so proud.

20.   Wrong Self-Expression:  I do not know why did this happen.

Correct American Style:        I do not know why this happened.
